This time we have a name!! - It's time to say good bye to da beave (Beth). She is headed to Minnesota, known to Southern Californians as the ICE BOX. Check out the GC.com webpage for this event: Event Webpage If you have any photos, please post them or contact me (Superdave) for an email address. Bring any travel bugs/coins that you want to send with her. Come out and enjoy a night with all of your fellow cachers, to share stories, get those hints you need to prevail over your DNF's. This cache is on/near UCSD campus grounds. Like last time, we will park and meet at N32 53.355 W117 14.452 then head to the cache. Please be sure to read the cache description so you are prepared for what's coming. Bring a flashlight! As time, desire and survival permit, there are other caches in the area to be had: Eucalyptus Maze - GC916 Endor - GCXR03 Anna's Birthday Cache - GC8A3E If this has been on your "must do" list, now the time to get it done. Previous finders of this cache are MORE THAN WELCOME to serve as guides and assist. Folks with no significant fear of large, squishy, squirming, treacherous spiders will be pushed to the head of the group (by me) and will be required to protect those of us who already have the heebie jeebies. Come and have fun....if you dare....!

hey there... i (Sean Klope) just joined, but thought any cachers would like to know that another meet-up group is heading down to explore near the mexican border (with Border Patrol approval and a possible park guide) to explore some old bunkers slated for destruction. I found a few caches listed for this area and I'm told that it's going to be off limits within the month - for construction of a new border fence. Several caches could be affected. We're meeting at the Starbucks at Palm and Saturn at 9:30am, Sat. morning (Feb. 16) (just west of I-5).

Come out and join us for some hiking and / or some Off Roading. You can camp out or just show up for a day trip. Here is a link to some info about the area. I plan to camp at or near Superstition Mtns about 12 miles away. You can also camp at some primitive camping sites in Fish Creek. Meeting spot is the trailhead to the Wind Caves at appx. 32 59.597 -116 7.111 . Caches we can expect to find on this outing: Wind Caves - Anza Borrego SP by TerryDad2 (GCZ68N) Little Wind Cave by gratefuldad116 with Tippy Tom (GC10CQG) Traditional by ChargerMan (GCZHV1) (we may be replacing it if it is still gone as per owner's permission) J & R by CAMP W (GCT4KT) Update - it has been archived BOO! Then, possibly on to Elephant Knees by Jef (GCBFDE) if you are up to a 3.5/3.5 cache! Looking forward to meeting you at 10:00! Thanks to Team Gecko for the above photo!

"Oh, there's a football game on Sunday??" (Group caching/meet and greet at MTRP on Sunday morning) Hey everyone, I thought I'd put the word out about a last minute caching get together for those of us not interested in football or even for those of you wanting a little exercise before the game. Some of us are going to meet up for some caching at Mission Trails Regional Park before the Super Bowl. If the weather isn't too bad, bring a lunch and we'll have a picnic. When is it?: Sunday, 2/3/08 Who's invited?: Everyone!! You don't even need a GPS! Where's the meeting place?: Clairemont Mesa Blvd MTRP trailhead When does it start?: 8:30 AM When does it end?: When we run out of caches or whenever you want to leave! Probably around 1:00 PM What's the first waypoint?: GCT4T2 "Who?s that walking on my bridge?" What should I bring?: Depending on the weather, you might want to bring a warm, rainproof jacket and some shoes that you don't mind getting dirty. It's been a little muddy in MTRP lately with all the wet weather we've been having, but that just makes it more fun! signalsmile.gif Directions to the trailhead: I-15 to Clairemont Mesa Blvd East on Clairemont Mesa Blvd Drive until you reach the parking lot at the end of the road! Hope to see you there, smalls311 (Rhea)

Last night we had a great meeting at Karl Strauss Gardens in Sorrento Mesa to discuss upcoming events. Present were Dave (kawikaturn), Bill and Laurie (weewilldo7), Randy (Thunder-4), James (LLOT) and Eric (Gleeming999). We came up with some great ideas, so look for some future Meetups like this one (described below), a trip to the "Who Done It!" series in Ramona in January, a desert trip in February, a hunt for QBOA in Balboa Park in March, a trip to Adobe Falls in the College area, some mountain power trails, etc., etc., etc. These are easy to schedule, so we are going to try for an event every month and see how many people participate. Hopefully this group will really take off! Last night our Meetup morphed into a hunt for the DAK Girls' cache, The Kiss of Midnight. After a couple of initial struggles, we got on track and were able to complete the mission. What a blast! Anyway, back to THIS Meetup.... Click on the link, below, to get all the details on this Meetup. This is really just a tag-along to an existing GC.com event. For those of you who do not have GPS receivers yet, the location is Starridge Park in Poway, located at Starridge Street and Carriage Road in Poway (address, above). There are maps in the link, below. Hope to see you all there! 3rd Annual Christmas Lights Geo Walk by Team Reid (GC17EB6)

Since Dave already proposed November 28th at Karl Strauss to brainstorm keeping this alive, why don't we go ahead and meet to discuss scheduling some more group caching events...
