Amnesty Event

It has come to my attention that large numbers of cachers have been misspelling the common exclamation of excitement, “WoooooHoooooooo,” which frequently appears in cache logs primarily in connection with a FTF. It appears that these miscreants believe there to be an aitch after the dubya, i.e., WhoooooHoooooooo. This misperception has risen to a state of epidemic and it must be stopped. You all know who you are. And, frankly, I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore!!

Consider the pronunciation of the following words, noting that there is no aitch following the dubya:

Wood
Wool
Woman
Woof

Each of the above words shares the proper pronunciation of the WooooooHooooooooo exclamation. Contrast the pronunciation of the following words, each of which employs an aitch following the dubya:

Who
Whole
Whom
Whose

In each of these cases, the dubya is silent and the aitch is pronounced. I rest my case.

So, to remedy this outrage, I have reserved the familiar Giovanni’s Italian Restaurant on April 25th at 6 pm. Amnesty will be granted to any and all who attend, provided that each bows before the altar of the Verbivore and swears to forever abstain from following the dubya with an aitch. But pity the fool who dares to employ the offending aitch from and after the date of this event. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, there will be a severe price to pay for such frivolous indiscretions!!! Sgt. Argyle will be re-deployed with a new mission and a vengeance!! No prisoners will be taken!!!

So come one, come all, and may the offenders repent and be saved from the wrath of Sgt. Argyle!!

Another great event Flagman! I have repented and will refrain from the incorrect versions and follow the way of Homer!
    •  Its always great to get fellow cachers together. I think next time it would be good to go around the room and announce the caching names of everyone. It would have been nice to see who was who.
